The DC Consortium Student Conference on Evaluation and Policy (SCEP) is a collaboration of universities in the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and Maryland regions, representing the interests of students aspiring to be evaluators and policy makers. This collaboration provides students with a platform to present their research and interact with evaluation experts in the opportunity-rich region of Washington, D.C. This conference serves as a bridge between students, academia and other evaluation and policy agencies/organizations.
After a successful inaugural conference, the DC Consortium SCEP is looking to investigate the role of evidence in evaluation and policy in its second year. The organizing committee hopes to generate discussion on the nature and importance of evidence in policy and evaluation. In evaluation – and policy – the gold standard for evidence is predominantly data and measures that can be quantified. With this year’s theme of, ‘What is Evidence? Towards Social Equity in Evaluation and Policy,’ DC Consortium SCEP takes on the challenge of bringing other types of data, measures and evidence to the forefront.
