Navigating Challenges and Resistance to Equity

Led by the Washington Evaluators, October 21, 5:00 - 6:30pm ET

Non-profits, foundations, and governmental organizations have addressed equity over the years. Yet the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent national unrest has made it difficult for some to ignore or deny the inequities in our country. Evaluators have an opportunity, and perhaps an obligation, to develop an equity lens amongst their own team and to bring an equity perspective to their clients—to engage their clients in bringing equity to the fore, but “doing equity” is hard and often generates resistance.

Washington Evaluators is pleased to have Drs. Kien Lee, Amber Trout, and Kumea Shorter-Gooden to discuss the role of evaluation in advancing equity, how to assess organizations for readiness, and how to build capacity to begin and sustain the work. Following the facilitated discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to share their challenges and questions, which will be provided anonymously to the panelists for their expert opinions.
